Information for Students
The Law Society of Prince Edward Island requires that students pass certain courses at Law School in order to be eligible to be enrolled as an articled clerk.
In order to be enrolled as an Articled Clerk in Prince Edward Island, the Law Society requires the successful completion of the following courses at law school:
- Canadian Constitutional Law
- Civil Procedure
- Criminal Law
- Ethics/Professional Responsibility
- Property Law
and the successful completion 4 of 7 courses in the following subject areas:
- Criminal Procedure
- Commercial Law
- Corporate Law
- Family Law
- Administrative Law
The Law Society gives three scholarships each year to law students.
SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED TO LAW STUDENTS
Each year the Law Society and Law Foundation give three $3,000 scholarships to law students. The student must be enrolled or accepted for enrolment as a full-time student at an accredited university law school for the next academic year. Proof of Enrolment or acceptance for enrolment must accompany the application. The Scholarship Committee of the Law Society selects recipients. The selection is based on a scholastic attainment in the previous year of academic study and demonstrated financial need. The deadline for submission of applications is July 31 of each year.
